Airtightness/BLOWER DOOR

Testing Services

Airtightness tests or blower door tests measure a building’s air leakage rates, allowing us to quantify the associated energy loss.

At Harmony Engineering, we are familiar with the different testing and reporting standards required for a variety of different project and building types. We have experience performing blower door tests on a range of projects, from multi-unit residential buildings to college campuses, office buildings and long-term care facilities.

All on site testing is conducted with up-to-date calibrated Retrotec equipment.

All Part 3 blower door test reports are verified and stamped by a Professional Engineer.

Mid-Construction Airtightness Testing

Mid construction tests confirm whether a project is on track to meet it’s intended airtightness target, performed at a time in the building process where it is still easy to make corrections and address deficiencies in the air barrier.

Final Airtightness Testing:

With recent code updates, all new buildings are now required to undergo final airtightness testing prior to occupancy. Some projects may have additional requirements, such as inter-suite testing required by BC Housing.
